| Eureka Springs Digital Impressionism Rick Armellini began producing a series of dreamlike, sometimes romantic, digital impressions of Eureka Springs in 1997. This handsome 5" x 7" full color book features 68 of Rick's most popular prints.
Eureka Springs, a small historically rich town, is nestled in the Ozark Mountain Range in Northwest Arkansas. Visitors to Eureka Springs, originally established as a health spa in the 1880s, have been falling in love with its scenic beauty, Victorian architecture, and friendly inhabitants for over 125 years.
Many of the historic sites presented here have been the subject of traditional artistic expression from Eureka Springs’ earliest days. These images were first captured using the state-of-the-art technology of the late 19th century, stereoscopic photography. I have reinterpreted them employing 21st century technology, the computer. Although most of my prints begin as digital photographs, there is little left of the original after 20 to 40 hours of graphic manipulation. I spend considerable time on composition and use nontraditional color and artistic license in order to, hopefully, cause us to suspend our normal conception of how things “should” look, and allow us to see them in a new light.
I try to create an impression of a mood by isolating parts of Eureka Springs’ past, present, and future, presenting them from a slightly different view in order to capture a hint of what we love about this powerful place that we all claim as our own. Price: $20.00
